The Committee
A crucial aspect of You and Me Pre-School is that we are a charity. We are run by a voluntary committee of trustees, most of whom are current or former parents, who generously give their time and energy to promote and support the pre-school.
The committee works closely with our Manager, Business Manager and staff and plays an important role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the pre-school. They meet every half term to plan fundraising events, monitor the budget and make sure the needs of both children and staff are being met.
Being part of the committee does come with responsibility, but it is also great fun! It's a fantastic way to make new friends, gain a real insight into how the pre-school operates behind the scenes and have a genuine impact on your child's early years education.
If you would like to join the committee or want more information, please email: chairman@youandmepreschool.co.uk
If you would like to help from time to time but don't wish to join the committee, we would still love to hear from you. We often need extra help at fundrasing events, with gardening, tip-runs or during maintenance mornings.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Our AGM takes place each September, when new committee members are elected. Committee members usually join for a minimum of two years, although many choose to stay on for longer. At the AGM, we invite volunteers to fill any committee vacanies.
Committee Roles
All of our Committee members undergo suitability checks by Ofsted this includes the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Chair
The Chair is the main point of contact for committee members, staff and external partners, with their key role being to support the Pre-School Manager and Business Manager. The role is varied and rewarding, offering the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities, from staff recruitment and appraisals to policy development and fundraising projects.
At committee meetings, the Chair is responsible for setting the agenda and helping to co-ordinate roles and actions agreed by the committee. No previous experience is needed to become the Chair, existing and former committee members and staff are always available to offer guidance, answer questions and provide support.
Treasurer
The Treasurer works closely with the Pre-School Business Manager to oversee the pre-school's finances.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for taking the minutes at the committee meeting, distributing the minutes and any other relevant information to committee members.
Fundraisers
Our fundraisers do an amazing job co-ordinating fundraising events. This is a fun and rewarding role that directly benefits the children as all funds raised are invested back into the pre-school.
